Add Custom Domain

This feature is only available on our paid plans i.e. Pay as you go or higher.

Domains Tab

In Axios Control Plane, browse to Tenant view from the sidebar. If you are on a paid plan you can see the Domains tab on the screen.

Domains tab displays your primary domain which can not be changed or edited and option to add one or more custom domains (depending on the plan).

Add Custom Domain

Click on Add custom domain and enter a valid custom domain name in popup form. To add custom domain you will need access to your domain's DNS.

After adding custom domain you will need to update your DNS. Click on Details button against your custom domain name.

Popup will display the current status of custom domain and any required action. For newly added custom domain, it will display failing CNAME validation and ask you to create a CNAME record for your custom domain with displayed target value (copy the value).

Add CNAME Record

To complete the custom domain setup, you will need to add a CNAME record in your domain's DNS pointing to our backend servers using target value displayed on the domain details popup.

In following example, we used Amazon Route 53 to add a new CNAME record using value displayed in our domain's detail popup. General instruction on how to add CNAME record provided at the end of this page. If you have any issues in CNAME setup please contact us via email.

DNS changes take time to propagate, usually this happens within a few minutes to an hour, but this can longer depending on your DNS provider. You can check your DNS by using online tools such as Zone, or using the command line tools dig and host

Once you have updated the CNAME setup in your DNS, re-open your custom domain's details popup. It CNAME setup is complete, popup will have suggest that HTTPS cert issued and CNAME is pointing to assigned target.

General CNAME set up instructions

  1. Sign in to the account where you manage your domain's DNS
  2. Navigate to the Manage Domains or Domains section
  3. Select your domain from the list and navigate to domain
  4. Find a button Add or Add Record or Add New Record or Create Record or any variation of these keywords.
  5. Create a new CNAME record for your subdomain (you may have to select record Type as CNAME)
    • For example, if you picked "auth.mydoamin.com" as your custom domain, create the record for "auth"
  6. For the Destination or Target value, paste in the unique value that you received from the custom domain details popup.
  7. Save your changes.

CNAMEs can take up to 24 hours to propagate.
